Microbiology Laboratory

Managed design and construction of the Microbiology Laboratory. This project was constructed adjacent to the Virology Laboratory. The pressure in this lab is controlled higher than the virology lab. The project consisted of a new HVAC system, fire sprinklers, and utilities. Utilities included instrument air, liquid nitrogen, gaseous nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and deionized water. The building HVAC system was upgraded to maintain class 100,000. Terminal HEPA filters were certified to ensure room cleanliness. Laminar flow hoods, CO2 incubators, and centrifuges were purchased and installed. A pass-through was constructed to transfer materials to be tested in the Virology Lab. The pass-through door was complete with fusible link to meet fire codes. The laboratory was designed and constructed for one hour fire rating.
