Performed
project management for the modification of existing Vector Tablet Coaters.
The new coater pans were equipped with an increased number of inlet air
ports. The modified version allows more air into the coater and better
distribution of air in the pan to prevent over-spraying.
The coating efficiency was increased by more than 40%.
The project included installation of process air handling units and exhaust
fans. The system was designed with high pressure air ducting. This project
was executed within very strict time constraints since this unit was being
used for production prior to the modification. There was no tolerance
for extended shutdown. Three construction shifts were used to execute
a fast-track construction. Construction and validation were completed
on time.
This project included extensive mechanical control systems, including
digital controllers, and safety alarms. Fire sprinklers, electrical, a
raised ceiling, coating solution stainless steel tanks, mixers, and steel
platforms were installed. Floor finish was epoxy coated.
Coordinated operation process requirements with the equipment suppliers.
Performed field acceptance inspection in Vector's manufacturing facility
in Marion, Iowa.
This project was intended to support the increased manufacturing capacity
of controlled-release tablets.
